Special Educational Needs
At Weston Mill Community Primary Academy we aspire for all children to achieve their full potential. We aim to work in partnership with parents and children to best match provision to support a child's needs.
As well as your child's class teacher, our SENCo Laura Harris is also available to talk through any concerns that you have about your child's education and well-being. We firmly believe in early identification and intervention.
‘A pupil has SEN (Special Educational Needs) where their learning difficulty or disability calls for special educational provision, that is provision different from or additional to that normally available to pupils of the same age.’ (SEN Code of Practice p.82)
Below is a copy of our SEN information report and our SEN policy. Both documents will give you advice, contacts and information on how the school supports SEN children and their parents/carers. Please do not hesitate to contact the school if you have any further questions.

Hello,
I am Laura Harris, I am the SENCO here at Weston Mill.
I have worked at Weston Mill since 2015 in various roles, as a class teacher and then in our alternate provision (Previously known as the Edison Centre)
I am passionate about all areas of SEND and I strive to ensure that all children have what they need to thrive! I have particular knowledge around trauma and adverse childhood experiences - having grown up in a fostering family, completed a diploma in Trauma Informed practice and then worked in alternate provision, but I also have a wealth of experience in supporting neurodivergent learners.
You can find me on the playground most mornings but if I can help in anyway, please don't hesitate to get in touch via my email.
