Weston Mill Community Primary School - Pupil Premium The Department for Education (DfE) published the Pupil Grant 2012/13: Conditions of Grant in December 2011.

Section 8 sets out the terms on which the pupil premium grant (PPG) is allocated to schools.
“The grant may be spent by maintained schools for the purposes of the school; that is to say for the educational benefit of pupils registered at the school, or for the; benefit of pupils registered at other maintained schools; and on community facilities, for example services whose provision furthers any charitable purpose for the benefit of pupils at the school or their families, or people who live or work in the locality in which the school is situated.”

Carrying forward unspent grant
 
The guidance explains: the grant does not have to be completely spent by schools in the financial year beginning 1 April 2012. Some or all of it may be carried forward to future financial years.
Allocation
 
The grant is to be allocated in two parts, which are:
• Pupil premium for pupils known to be eligible for free school meals in any of the previous six years and service children in mainstream schools.
• Pupil premium for looked-after children and pupils eligible for free school meals in any of the previous six years in non-mainstream settings.

To attract the pupil premium, pupils in either group must be aged four and over, and in year groups Reception to year 11 in a mainstream school. A large amount of research has been undertaken to determine the most effective use of Pupil Premium and we have used advice from The Sutton Trust and the DfE to determine how to make the best of this valuable funding.
